Multi-Level Memory and Storage for HPC and Data Analytics

Date: Tuesday, June 26, 2018, 03:45 PM - 04:45 PM

Room: Substanz 1+2

Type: Birds of a Feather

Description: Driven largely by the needs of data-intensive Enterprise and Cloud computing, new memory and storage technologies are becoming available, and interconnect technologies are improving in bandwidth and functionality. These trends do make it possible to define innovative system architectures that will greatly benefit data-oriented HPC and high performance data analytics (HPDA) applications. Such architectures commonly use multiple memory and storage levels to improve delivered performance, scalability and energy efficiency, thus matching the requirements of HPC and HPDA users and operators. This session will bring together technology providers, application and system SW developers, and operators of large HPC/HPDA systems to discuss the evolving memory/storage landscape in the context of specific use cases, emerging technologies, and early success stories (of key US and European R&D activities). The session goal is to establish a special interest group to act as a community of practice.
